Tony McCarroll
Drummer
1991-1995
Tony McCarroll was born in the early 70s in Manchester, England. He was the original drummer for Oasis, playing with them from 1991 until 1995. Before they were called Oasis, the band was called “The Rain” and consisted of guitarist Paul Arthurs (Bonehead), bassist Paul McGuigan, and lead singer Chris Hutton (no current members of Oasis). Eventually, Liam Gallagher joined “The Rain”, replacing Chris Hutton. With the addition of Liam, the band changed it’s name to Oasis. Noel Gallagher joined the band slightly after, creating the line-up that everyone is familiar with: Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll. Tensions grew between Tony McCarroll and the rest of the band, especially with Noel. McCarroll was asked to leave t the band in 1995 after it was rumored that he got into a brawl with Liam. McCarroll denies the rumors. It eventually came out that the fight was not the reason McCarroll was asked to leave the band. The reason was apparently that his drumming wasn’t cutting it. Alan White replaced McCarroll as the new drummer. In 1999 McCarroll hired a lawyer because he believed that he was entitled to his cut of the bands five album deal with the record label, “Creation”. He planned to sue Oasis for £18m, but recieved only £600,000, and lost all existing ties with the band.
