Bonehead
Rhythm Guitar
1991-1999
Bonehead (Paul Arthurs) was an original member of Oasis, playing in it when it was still called “The Rain”. Originally, Bonehead and Liam Gallagher were co-songwriters for Oasis. When Noel came along, both Liam and Bonehead abandoned that title, and allowed Noel to be the lead songwriter. In 1999, while recording their fourth album, “Standing on the Shoulder of Giants”, Bonehead left Oasis, claiming that he wanted to spend more time with his family. However, Noel claims that he left for a different reason. In order get better results and ease the recording process, Noel demanded that Liam stay sober while in the studio, and expected the other band members to do the same. Arthurs did not take well to Noel’s plan for the band, and rather than help Liam stay sober, he reportedly taunted him and other band members with alcohol. Eventually, Noel treated Bonehead similar to how Bonehead had treated the other band mates, and he could not handle it and quit. For whatever reason, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs quit the band, subsequently resulting in Guigsy quitting the band less than a month later.
